#Dressember Day 24 Outfit of the Day

Starting from December 1st 2017 I pledged to wear a dress a day for the whole of December, as part of the Dressember challenge. Check out today’s dress outfit of the day now that we are 24 days into this 31-day challenge!

Dressember Day 24 Outfit of the Day

Day 24 of Dressember is also Christmas Eve! Happy Holidays to everybody – if you haven’t already planned out your outfits for the next few days then I hope this provides you with some helpful inspiration! Generally throughout this Dressember project I have stuck to simple colour schemes – mainly consisting of black, red, white, gold and varying shades of pink. For the last few days I’ve been wearing a lot of black because the darker colours make me feel warmer than wearing very light shades such as solid yellow, light blue, all white, etc. It’s interesting what mental effect a colour can have on you just by looking at it. Light colours make me feel cool, making them ideal in the summer but not in the winter. Today however, I fancied adding a little depth to my look by incorporating a contrasting warm tone to my black attire. I also wanted to share with you my clever layering tactic here, which may not be obvious upon first glance. As part of Dressember we are only supposed to wear dresses. We can wear skirts, jeans, leggings, etc. but only if we are also wearing a dress. So, today I’m wearing a long black strap dress, with my burgundy pencil skirt and black shirt over it. I’m also wearing black leggings, knee-high vegan black boots and a burgundy clutch bag.

What is Dressember?

Everyday throughout the month of December, participants are required to wear a dress instead of trousers, jeans, leggings, etc. Among some minorities, dresses represent weakness and inequality, which is why participants of the campaign will be wearing them across the entire 31-day project. We are wearing dresses to raise awareness and collect donations to end modern day slavery and human trafficking. Donations raised help fund life-saving work through the International Justice Mission and A21, who are partnering with the Dressember team for this cause.

How Can I Get Involved in Dressember 2017?

You can become an advocate and get involved by wearing a dress every day of this month. You can support Online Personal Stylist and donate here. You can also share this post and my campaign page to help raise awareness for this campaign. And, as I’m providing daily styling tips this month through my daily dress outfit posts, you can also take these points on board by learning how to revamp items in your wardrobe that you already own. Despite being a professional fashion stylist, I’m a serious advocate for sustainable and cruelty-free fashion, which is one of the reasons this campaign really appealed to me. All this month I will be showing you how you can wear almost any item from your wardrobe at any time of the year. As you will see throughout this project, many of the dresses I plan to wear are actually from my summer wardrobe! With the help of some clever styling tricks, a dose of creativity, and strategic layering tactics, it is possible to transfer many of your garments between contrasting seasons!
