Colour Trend Report: How to Wear Green

In this colour trend report we are going to look at how to wear green clothing. So many people have a love/hate relationship with green. Wear it well and you will look amazing. Wear the colour wrong and you may end up looking like a bad imitation of an exotic reptile. Green is an excellent choice of colour that can be worn all year round and will flatter most complexions.

How to Wear Green

You must first decide on what kind of look you are going for before you start experimenting with green coloured garments. Choose an outfit theme and then from there decide on which shade and texture of green would look best. Are you going for an emerald green sophisticated look à la Elizabeth Taylor? Is the look you’re going for more of a khaki green casual style? If you’re wearing green for summer then maybe a lighter, vibrant shade such as lime green would be best?
After that, try to stick to matching your green fashion items with different colours from the same palette as your chosen green. Unless you’re going for a bold and extroverted style, it’s best to wear just one green item of clothing. Mixing more than one item of green clothing is difficult, even if you’re wearing different shades or textures of green. You can however coordinate an item of clothing with accessories in the same or similar shade.

How to Wear Green: Choosing the Right Fabric Types

It’s time to forget your fears about wearing green and start to incorporate it into your looks. The colour green works equally as well in clothing as it does for cosmetics. If you dislike green as a colour and can’t see yourself incorporating it into your personal style anytime soon, small accessories and make-up items are a good alternative. Jewellery with green beads or stones finishes an outfit off perfectly. Green eyeshadows and mascaras can really make your eyes pop! And then there’s nail polish to try too!

Avoid:

Green is similar to blue, although it requires a little extra thought when styling. Generally you don’t have to worry too much about fabric types. If you’re feeling the slightest bit unsure, it’s perhaps a good idea to stay clear of leather and nylon. These are possibly the only two materials which could prove more challenging to wear. Nylon garments can look dated and boxy. Nylon green trousers often share a similar appearance to work uniforms.
Green nylon shirts in mint green have the opposite effect. Bright green shirts are an excellent way to liven up a dull work uniform. In order to wear leather garments you must find a colour that you feel comfortable in and love to wear! A green faux leather jacket is a fantastic alternative to the standard black but it depends on what you feel comfortable with. The easiest way to incorporate green leather materials into your everyday style is by choosing bags or ankle boots in a dark shade of green. A great alternative to black but not intimidating to wear!

Invest in:

Green is a vibrant shade that looks good in a variety of fabrics, including wool, suede, cotton, silk, velvet and more. As for footwear, nothing beats a pair of (vegan) leather ankle boots in olive green! One of the bikini colours to wear on the beach is green. This is because green flatters your skin tone and hides imperfections. So if your skin is looking a little red, wearing green is the perfect way to counteract this undertone.
